Bloglet: Hilo is the Seattle of Hawaii

Actually, this is probably not an accurate comparison, except in one repect. Hilo has a reputation of raining all the time. Yet both times I have visited Hawaii, there have been more blue skies in Hilo than in Kona, which is supposedly the dry side.

Maybe this is just luck. Or maybe, much like in Seattle, Hiloans (or is it Hiloites) are propagating a myth to keep people away. Hard to say. But I really like the feel of this side of the island. It is distinctly not touristy, and the tourists who are here seem to be more the ecotourist, than the gaudy, excessive types that frequent the "dry side" of the island.
